June Scheduled Art Projects: Giraffe 6/2, Butterfly 6/9, Seattle Space Needle 6/16, Art supplies provided. Class size is limited to 12 students. Classes are every Sat from 10:30am - 12pm starting Dec 3, 2011, excluding holidays. Classes may be rescheduled if minimum enrollment is not met. Budding artist from all over the Bellevue/Seattle area have learned to draw, paint and love art thanks to the remarkable teaching skills of Jennifer Lyon. Those parents looking to add enrichment to their child’s lives or to build upon an already blossoming artist will find a Cornish educated, BFA degreed art teacher with enthusiasm to instruct art. The combina-tion of being an Art Docent in local elementary schools and having a four and seven-year old herself who love to create are what set Jennifer apart. When she is not teaching art to children you can find Jennifer in our Bellevue Invites department or creating art with her own family.

An art docent in the Lake Washington School district for 10 years, she’s developed programs and classes for children for Bellevue Art & Frame over the last year and encourages individuality and fun with every lesson. Julie’s ARTCLASS: Taught by Julie Hammerquist Art for Ages 6 to 10 - Intro to basic drawing and fundamentals of art. Explore various media (oil pastels, ink, watercolor, watercolor pencil, graphite and colored pencil) and create your own art! 8 week session Thursdays 4/19-6/7 4:15-5:15. $160, supplies included.
Art for Ages 10 to 14 - For the young artist ready to explore various media & develop their own style. Further explore fundamentals of art, new techniques and basic perspective. Media: graphite, oil & soft pastels, colored pencil, ink, acrylics, and watercolor. 8 week sessions Thursdays 4/19-6/7 5:30-7:00. $215, supplies included.
ART CAMP FOR YOUNG ARTISTS
Art for ages 7 to 10 - Explore various media to discover your own style. Children will experiment with graphite, ink, watercolor and pastels. Learn new techniques with each media and how to combine them for exciting results. We will create art from favorite past projects. Come have fun and create your own masterpieces.
Julie Hammerquist has enjoyed creating art from an early age. Her love of art has guided her path through life. Professionally, she has been a technical illustrator, an architectural illustrator, a graphic artist, and a digital artist. She has retuned to her roots as a professional artist and sharing her love of art with children is her passion. You can view Julie’s work at www.hammerquist.us.
KiwiBlueKids is an art enrichment class taught by professional Graphic Designer/Art Specialist, Debra Mason. Each class incorporates several elements of art into every designed piece of work. We use only professional mediums such as acrylic, pen and ink, watercolor, colored pencil, mixed media, oil pastel, and pastel. "I love to see the joy in every student's face as they complete their work. That is my ultimate reward!" A matted piece of artwork will go home with each child every week
Debra Mason has degrees in interior design and Commercial Art/Graphic Design. For over 15 years she taught an after school art program in the Bellevue School District, was an Art Specialist at The Bear Creek School for 8 1/2 years, and currently runs the art program at the Bellevue Club.

Click Here for more information and registration Discovering Nature Detectives DATE: July 16th - July 20th 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Nature Detectives seek out and discover the properties of various shapes found in our natural world. They use pattern blocks to learn shaperecognition, measure to determine circumference, and learn to use measurement tools in analyzing and sorting various shapes. Some of the topics covered in this unit are:
The lessons and activities are supplemented by games such as Continuo, Hue Knew, Blink, Measuring Monkeys and Supermind, which enhance students’ learning of the concepts presented. Exploring Geometry in Art and Architecture DATE: July 16th - July 20th 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Students in the Art and Architecture camp will work together to learn about how geometry affects art, architecture, and city design. They will create many different objects with the use of paper, cardboard, straws, paperclips and string.
The lessons and activities are supplemented by mathematical games such as Rush Hour, River Crossing and Jenga. Discovering Adventures in Arrghrithmetic(Pirates Ahoy!) DATE: Aug 13 - Aug 17 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Swashbuckling primary mathematicians enrolled in the Adventures in Arrghrithmetic camp develop mathematical skills by participating in activities with a pirate theme. The activities, games and books in the camp focus on concepts such as measurement, geometry, time, navigation, technology, number sense and problem solving. The lessons and activities in the camp are supplemented by games such as Krypto, Super Six, Snap it Up and Loose Change , which enhance the students’ learning of the concepts presented in the camp. Exploring the History of Numbers DATE: Aug 13 - Aug 17 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Students in the History of Numbers camp will work together to learn about the history of counting; how numbers were developed and the development of ancient number systems. Students will also be learning about bartering and the development of our monetary system. They will learn what makes something valuable and what constitutes a fair trade. They will create skits based on the story Alexander, Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday by Judith Viorst, and will learn to count money quickly and accurately. Some of the topics covered in this unit are:
Students will also be playing ancient games like Mancala, Tapatan, and Men’s Morris. These games will help with a child’s analytical thinking. |
